FakeChan is a silly attempt at replicating and copying several functions of the popular imageboard 4chan while generally serving as a public file and cloud storage client in it's own right. Users do not need to register to upload/display files and can start posting immediately.
All of the boards are listed at the top of each page. The trailing slash function that renders them as "fakechan/boards/a/", "fakechan/boards/x/" etc. is known to be glitchy and gives 404 errors, be sure to always go back to the right board URL when you are finished using it.
Anyone can post whenever they want to one of the Cloudinary image feeds and write a funny joke post to accompany their image. PLEASE make sure that you send all the right files to the right board. .mp4s to /vid/ etc.
Namefagging/identities are not systematically even allowed on FakeChan, all uploads are automatically classified as being from an "Anonymous" in the code with no options for setting custom usernames. Users DO have access to a replica of the 4chan tripcodes eg. !!zy}6$CZx-*#: if they wish for more than one of their posts to be visibly pinned on the same author.
Yes, but you are not required to add accompanying text to the post. The feature was only recently implemented and fully fleshed out.
If you put text on your post, we have a code that automatically detects if you used ">" in the front like a traditional 4chan greentext and makes the post green.
>greentext
We are Legion. We are eternal. Expect us.
Her name is Ruki-chan and you love her.
GETS/digits are a well known phenomenon on 4chan where the numbers on the end of your post ID have a matching number like 00/88/666/7777/99999 etc. GETS often add more validity and truth to the post, with jokes like "Dubs confirm" as if the post having a GET signifies the quality and status of the post. Scripts exist to get all of the latest posts across all the 4chan boards to predict when the next GET is going to be. Each image on all of the FakeChan boards is assigned a post number starting from the earliest upload to be able to track/detect GETS on the boards, and a special exclusive board specifically for tracking all of the GETS across the whole site was created as well.
FakeChan is a meant to be a happy and friendly experience for archiving meetups and files/videos sent in from friends that also came from 4chan as well as giving the public more education on the process of making and running imageboards, and we are not interested in hosting or achiving files born from hostility or meant to antagonize or attack others. We all just want to have a good time here, damn it!
We want good and consistent users that publish good stuff we would want to show off and host. If it is gross, bad, or unfunny: we don't want it on here! Curating the overall theme of the material hosted here is very important. Classification/organization is also important to make sure all of the materials are being sent to the right boards.
Anything that SHITienrus posts.
FakeChan was created by an anime web developer named T00THL3$$ a few months after launching an independent Wiki site for the Dragon Ball Super community, he posts reports and updates for new content on the altchan on the /news/ board with a replica of the 4chan capcode.
No and yes. Like stated in the Archive, your posts WILL be deleted from T00THL3$$'s Cloudinary server if they are deemed low-quality, shitposting, or simply undesired for some other personal reason with no notification. FakeChan is not currently popular enough to need mass moderation, but a banning system could be implemented if it is truly needed some day.
FakeChan has always been primarily powered on .HTML/JavaScript and .CSS with an external third party service called Cloudinary to host and retrieve user content and display it to the site. User content is sent in to Cloudinary and displayed back onto the site with accompanying custom metadata like post content and tripcodes. A Cloudflare/node.js backend called FakeChan: Core is used on the /get/ board which is manually updated every few days to list every single image on the site with assigned post numbers https://gets.fakechancore.workers.dev/
There are, but we have not yet breached the level of popularity to the point of overloading the servers or needing to set up a new one for hosting files (one could easily be made if this were the case) You are given an automatic display message on the top of all pages where the boards are listed to assess how many files are currently hosted to FakeChan and how many views they have.
